Police Captain

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Captain to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach Isai Police Department. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, including patrol, support services, and administration.

• Manage and direct the activities of sworn and non-sworn personnel to preserve order, protect life and property, and enforce laws and municipal ordinances.
• Coordinate with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Provide administrative support to the Police Chief, including budget preparation, staff reports, and grant management.
• Oversee the control and custody of evidence and property, and direct the preparation of criminal cases for presentation to the district attorney.
• Manage and direct patrol shifts, special units, and community programs.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
• At least six years of law enforcement experience, with five years at the level of Police Sergeant or higher rank.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Possession of a POST Supervisory Certificate and a valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record.

The Police Captain will work in a standard office setting, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, and may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations in support of departmental goals.
