About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Alumni Engagement to join our team at Southern Methodist University. As a key member of our Development and External Affairs department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that fosters strong relationships with our alumni community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to engage alumni, including the creation of programs, events, and communications that promote alumni involvement and giving.
  • Collaborate with university leaders, volunteers, and staff to advance alumni engagement goals and objectives.
  • Manage a team of professionals responsible for executing alumni programs and events, including budgeting, planning, and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and university leaders.
  • Monitor and analyze program effectiveness, using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and optimize program outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in non-profit development or alumni relations, with a focus on event management, volunteer management, and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Experience with fundraising databases, marketing software, and volunteer management systems is a plus.
