The Patient Support Specialist plays a crucial role in managing incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate departments, overseeing patient scheduling, processing referrals, and handling consultation requests.

  • Accurately schedule appointments and communicate relevant protocols to patients.
  • Manage online and faxed appointment requests efficiently.
  • Register patients accurately and swiftly.
  • Collaborate closely with the eligibility team regarding insurance benefits, deductibles, and referral processes.
  • Effectively triage patients and schedule appointments appropriately.
  • Utilize Centricity, SRS, Phoenix, and AllMeds EMRs for scheduling across multiple offices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a clerical office environment, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems. The position is primarily sedentary, with occasional filing tasks required.

Physical Requirements:


• Mobility is required, including frequent walking, standing, and sitting, along with some bending, stooping, stretching, and periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.


• Regular communication and auditory skills are necessary.


• Normal (corrected) vision is required.


• Coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment are essential.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, with shifts assigned in advance and varying between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Travel Requirements

No overnight travel is anticipated for this role.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Relevant job experience and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
