We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Custody Recommending Counselor to join our team at the Superior Court of California, County of Nevada. As a key member of our Family Court Services department, you will play a critical role in resolving disputes regarding contested child custody and visitation matters.
Key Responsibilities- Perform child recommending counseling services to resolve disputes regarding contested child custody and visitation matters.
- Review Court case information and prioritize assigned cases.
- Explain and inform on mediation processes to parties involved.
- Prepare and develop reports and documents related to child custody and visitation matters.
- Work independently and make decisions in the absence of easily applied rules.
- Engage in advising and recommendation functions to ensure child safety and domestic stability.
- Master's degree from an accredited college, university, or program in social work, psychology, marriage, family, and child counseling, or other behavioral science substantially related to marriage and family interpersonal relationships.
- Two (2) years of post-degree experience in counseling or psychotherapy, or both, preferably in a setting related to the area of family and child welfare with a diverse population.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license.
- Current state of California license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Psychologist.
- Experience working in the court or legal environment.
- Knowledge of California Court system, Civil Code, Family Law policies and procedures, and case statutory law.
- Principles of interviewing, counseling, investigation, and case work, custody research and studies, negotiation theory, and Court mediation theory and paradigms.
