The InsideHigherEd STEPS Kinship Navigator position is a critical role in supporting kinship caregivers and their families. As a STEPS Kinship Navigator, you will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide consultation, guidance, and resources to caregivers caring for children in kinship placements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultation and Guidance: Objectively advise kinship caregivers on options for caring for their relative or fictive kin child, including the requirements, responsibilities, and expectations of each option.
  • Resource Connection: Provide connection to resources and programs that support kinship families, including referrals to assistance programs.
  • Form Completion: Review and complete all kinship-related forms with caregivers.
  • Point of Contact: Remain a point of contact for kinship caregivers who have questions or need future assistance.
  • Collaboration: Work cooperatively with Department of Community Based Staff to ensure timely services are provided to kinship families.
  • Resource Connection: Connect kinship families with the Kentucky Kinship Resource Center programming for continued support, resource connection, and training.
Administrative Duties
  • Paperwork Completion: Complete all necessary state and university required paperwork based on caregivers' decisions.
  • Data Entry: Complete data entry into online portals.
  • Training and Meetings: Attend related trainings and meetings as required.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Complete any required reporting or program evaluation as needed or indicated.
