At Advocates, we're committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can thrive. As a Direct Care Staff member, you'll play a vital role in empowering individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling and independent lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with daily activities, such as personal care, mobility, and feeding, while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with residents to develop and achieve personalized treatment and behavior plans, focusing on empowerment and goal-building.
  • Teach and model social and independent living skills, encouraging individuals to participate in activities and engage with their community.
  • Document progress and shift notes, recognizing and responding to changes in residents' status or behavior.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • One year of experience providing direct care to individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities (preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to operate basic computer applications.
  • A valid driver's license, access to an operational and insured vehicle, and willingness to transport clients (may also drive company-owned wheelchair lift-equipped van).
  • A demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations (strongly preferred).
