LPN Inpatient Job Description

Join Carilion Clinic as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Inpatient department at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (CRBH) in Lexington, VA. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

About the Role

This LPN position is responsible for providing direct patient care, collaborating with the RN team, and participating in the nursing process to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, provide education to patients and families, and contribute to the orientation and career development of new team members.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
  • Contribute to the development of the patient/resident database and interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Identify patient/resident/family/caregiver educational needs, incorporate into the plan of care, implement, and document.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients/residents.
  • Implement prescribed therapeutic treatment plan and procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medication to patients/residents.
  • Demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
  • Contribute to Carilion's performance improvement activities and demonstrate support of service area/facility/organization initiatives.
  • Contribute to the orientation and career development of others.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia.
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification.
  • De-escalation training in Psychiatry and Behavioral Health (completed within four months of hire and maintained going forward).
