Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Physician to serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff. This is a key leadership position that requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the clinical operations of the Albuquerque VA Healthcare System.
  • Assist in the administration and oversight of clinical, educational, and research programs.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and the achievement of operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to establish policies and procedures that promote best practices in patient care.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to clinical staff, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the medical center's strategic plan.
  • Represent the medical center at local, regional, and national levels, as needed.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a residency program in a relevant specialty.
  • Board certification in a relevant specialty.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy and regulations.
  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
