Position Overview

The Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET III) is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and performance verification of sophisticated biomedical devices and systems, operating independently without technical oversight. This role requires proficiency in utilizing all necessary testing equipment and tools essential for fulfilling job responsibilities. The BMET III also acts as a consultant to administrative, medical, and clinical personnel regarding the safe operation and effective use of clinical equipment, as well as aiding in the specification development for new equipment acquisitions. Additionally, this position plays a vital role in departmental growth by mentoring fellow associates. Key Responsibilities

Technical Services - 40%

  • Conduct performance assurance inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operational verification procedures on complex biomedical devices and systems.
  • Execute repairs, installations, and calibrations on intricate biomedical equipment.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding repair statuses, scheduled inspections, and any unusual equipment issues.
  • Oversee and document the activities of subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through continuous training and education.
  • Lead special projects within service operations as assigned, which may involve travel to various sites for data collection and analysis.

Regulatory Compliance - 25%

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database, including inventory, performance assurance schedules, and service history.
  • Comply with the Medical Equipment Management Plan and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Guarantee that all service documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.

Account Relationship Management - 25%

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Engage with clinicians to discuss equipment functionality and status.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Act as a representative for TriMedx by integrating core values into daily performance.

Inventory Management - 10%

  • Conduct regular inspections of inventory status.
  • Verify security analyses for new customer equipment.
  • Perform incoming inspections to maintain accurate records of medical devices, including trial, rental, and loaner equipment.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the equipment database regarding inventory and service history.
  • Provide recommendations for inventory management.

Additional Duties

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical engineering environment working with biomedical equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills, including system administration, error code interpretation, and networking concepts.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with travel as needed based on site requirements.

Education Requirements

  • A 2-year degree in a technical or electronics field or equivalent experience is required. This requirement may be waived for candidates with TRIMEDX Trained Certification or an equivalent biomedical certification.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering technology is preferred.
  • Technical Certification (CBET) is preferred.
  • Travel may be necessary based on customer or business needs.
