About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Leader to join our team at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data-driven strategy and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Business Intelligence team, setting clear goals and expectations, and fostering a culture of growth, excellence, and innovation.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Intelligence strategy aligned with the organization's objectives.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and security.
  • Guide others toward project management best practices without getting involved personally.
  • Ensure large team of 50+ individuals stays on budget, including monitoring and managing the mix shift of work (CapEx vs. OpEx) and contractor/consultant expenses month to month.
  • Manage vendors toward value delivery at reasonable cost.
  • Partner with IT Architecture to ensure that the data architecture and infrastructure support the organization's evolving needs.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of Business Intelligence tools and platforms.
  • Partner with IT Operations to maintain Business Intelligence platforms, ensuring availability, security, performance, and compliance.
  • Oversee the management of data resources, including data collection, storage, and quality.
  • Work closely with other executives and department leaders to identify and prioritize Business Intelligence needs.
  • Support leaders in understanding what is feasible and what type of project may be appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures.
About You

We are looking for a leader with exceptional leadership and team-building skills, who can inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team of data professionals. You should have a strong intellectual curiosity, high emotional intelligence, and great degree of empathy. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – are essential. 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, is required. A proven track record of developing and executing Business Intelligence strategies that drive business results is a must.

You should have a strong knowledge of data management, data governance, and data quality principles. Proficiency in analytics tools, data visualization software, and data platforms – preferably Azure and Snowflake – is required. Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills are essential. Ability to think creatively and innovatively about how Business Intelligence can be leveraged is a must. Ability to align Business Intelligence initiatives with business goals is also required. Ability to adapt to changing business needs and technologies is essential. Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry trends is a must.

A thorough knowledge of the insurance industry is preferred, or at minimum, the proven ability to learn a new industry quickly. Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and big data architecture; prior experience in delivering large data management initiatives is required. Experience with vendor management Statement of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP) reviews is also essential. Experience working with cloud-based architecture and best practices is a must.
