Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a high-performing Business Intelligence team, setting clear goals and expectations, and fostering a culture of growth, excellence, and innovation.
  • Business Intelligence Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Intelligence strategy aligned with the organization's objectives, staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and security.
  • Project/Program Oversight: Guide others toward project management best practices, ensuring large-scale data management initiatives are executed efficiently.
  • Financial Management: Ensure the Business Intelligence team stays on budget, monitoring and managing expenses, and vendor partner relationships.
  • Vendor Partner Management: Manage vendors to deliver value at reasonable cost, ensuring Business Intelligence platforms are maintained and secure.
  • Data Platforms: Partner with IT Architecture to ensure data architecture and infrastructure support the organization's evolving needs.
  • Data Resources: Oversee the management of data resources, including data collection, storage, and quality.
  • Business Collaboration: Work closely with executives and department leaders to identify and prioritize Business Intelligence needs, supporting leaders in understanding feasible projects.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures.

About You

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with an ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team of data professionals.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, high emotional intelligence, and great degree of empathy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing Business Intelligence strategies that drive business results.
  • Strong knowledge of data management, data governance, and data quality principles.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools, data visualization software, and data platforms, preferably Azure and Snowflake.
  • Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively about how Business Intelligence can be leveraged.
  • Ability to align Business Intelligence initiatives with business goals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and technologies.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry, or the proven ability to learn a new industry quickly.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and big data architecture.
  • Experience with vendor management, Statement of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP) reviews.
  • Experience working with cloud-based architecture and best practices.
