Position Overview: Under the guidance of the Social Services Program Manager, the Bilingual Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering essential services to participants of the Community Resource Center (CRC) programs, as well as individuals seeking assistance and resources. This role encompasses both structured and unstructured case management, crisis intervention, and the provision of emergency support. The specialist will facilitate various programs aimed at preventing and addressing homelessness, including rental aid, seasonal shelter, and motel voucher initiatives, while also offering services that empower participants towards self-sufficiency, such as employment readiness training, financial literacy, budgeting assistance, benefits enrollment, and goal setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate information, resource navigation, emergency support, basic crisis intervention, and eligibility assessments for participants, callers, and visitors seeking help through CRC's Social Services, Food and Nutrition, Domestic Violence, and Counseling Programs. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of eligibility criteria for each program.
  • Oversee an assigned caseload, providing both formal and informal case management services. This includes conducting intake procedures, gathering eligibility documentation, performing psychosocial evaluations, determining program eligibility, developing case plans, and assessing participant requests for financial assistance.
  • Engage in activities directly related to achieving contract outcomes, including managing CRC's housing and shelter initiatives, leading workshops/groups, and assisting with benefits applications, ensuring all assigned goals related to compliance and outcomes are fulfilled.
  • Advocate for participants' needs, conducting research, networking, and attending meetings with community agencies/resources to make suitable referrals that enhance service delivery and access to necessary programs.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive physical and electronic records as mandated by grants and contracts, documenting all participant interactions and progress in accordance with agency standards, and completing required forms and data entry promptly.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision sessions with the Manager and/or Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • An Associate's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Alternatively, 3+ years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in social services, including case management, crisis intervention, or counseling is required. Familiarity with homelessness prevention strategies, low-income resources, and Domestic Violence services, as well as Trauma-Informed Care practices, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a solution-focused, professional, and compassionate demeanor in challenging situations.
  • Strong skills in collecting, analyzing, prioritizing, and communicating information effectively, with a keen attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to establish and sustain professional relationships with participants, community partners, and colleagues.
  • Experience with Homeless Management Information Systems, such as Efforts to Outcomes and Clarity, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
  • Completion of a 40-hour domestic violence training and other required training offered by CRC and partner agencies is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • The role is primarily sedentary, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
  • May involve light lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment at a computer, including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse.
