Underwriting Assistant Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to join our team at National Indemnity Company. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in reviewing new and renewal policies and applications for acceptability and profitability within our company's guidelines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and recording new business submissions into our rating software, determining which underwriter is responsible for the risk and assigning it to that individual.
  • Identifying and reviewing proper classification of risk and entering risk into rating software for underwriter review.
  • Examining and evaluating inspection reports, MVRs, loss data, audits, and other available information to determine the degree of risk and identify risk improvement or need for termination.
  • Communicating with underwriters and agents to provide quotes, instructions, obtain supplemental underwriting information, and provide other assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of college or equivalent.
  • Personal computer-related software skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • 2-3 years of related work experience.
  • Basic understanding of insurance terminology.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
