Job Description

The ALS Association is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for managing our National Signature Events, Distinguished Events, and building a foundation for new events within the Sacramento region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage revenue/fundraising event budgets and ensure budgeted targets are achieved.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for Signature Events, Distinguished Events, and new regional events that will enhance revenue growth for our mission.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with volunteers to build successful event committees for all fundraising events.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with key constituents and volunteers to help create a pipeline of donors for mid-level and major gifts.
  • Recruit and retain Friends and Family Teams and Corporate teams for the Walk to Defeat ALS Events and cultivate and steward donors for regional Distinguished Events.
  • Build and steward new relationships to create a foundation for new events.
  • Assist and grow corporate partnership initiatives including prospecting, cultivation, developing custom proposals, securing commitments, stewardship, and retention.
  • Recruit, empower, and mobilize volunteers to join us in the fight. Lead, direct, and manage committees for regional events.
  • Work in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications team to help execute all marketing communication efforts relating to local and community events in the respective region.
  • Work with the development team and the event experience team to manage event logistics, communications, and collateral.
  • Manage the databases such as - Salesforce, Team Raiser, and Greater Giving platform to track financial progress.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and two to four years of proven experience executing and meeting fundraising goals, with two years of experience in event fundraising required.
  • Experience in planning, leading, and managing development events, including coordinating with volunteers for desired outcomes.
  • Outstanding communication skills, articulate and persuasive, with well-honed relationship building skills.

  • The ability to travel up to 15% of the time and work occasional nights and weekends for Association business and events.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, lift and carry equipment and other materials (up to 30 pounds).
  • Strong knowledge of Sacramento community and corporate leaders a plus.
