Job Summary:

Laredo Medical Center's Mother/Baby unit is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to work in our fast-paced postpartum department. As a Registered Nurse on our team, you will have opportunities to cross-train and float to other women's services with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate assigned patients and develop individualized care plans.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform various patient tests and administer medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
  • Promote patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Internship or 3 months experience as an RN.
  • Licensed as a R.N. by the Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.
  • Preferred: Postpartum experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Basic Fetal Monitoring certifications may be completed within the first 90 days of hire at no cost to the employee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Letter of recommendation for applicants with less than 1 year of applicable experience in nursing.
