The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Laredo Medical Center is seeking a dedicated full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care for newborns up to 28 days old. This role is crucial in our 17-bed secure unit located within our main facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate assigned patients, planning and documenting nursing care effectively.
- Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Conduct various patient tests and administer medications in accordance with nursing standards.
- Promote patient independence by setting care goals and educating families on conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an associate's degree and be a certified registered nurse from an accredited nursing program.
- Valid nursing license in the State of Texas is required.
- Familiarity with standard practices and procedures in the nursing field is essential.
Applicant Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Internship or a minimum of 3 months of RN experience.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.
- CPR, NRP, and STABLE certifications are required, with some potentially completed during the first 90 days of employment at no cost.
- Preferred experience in NICU or pediatrics as an RN, LPN, or Nurse Technician.
- Letters of recommendation are preferred for candidates with less than one year of relevant nursing experience.
- Successful completion of any pre-employment assessments as required by the facility.
