Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Laredo Medical Center. This position involves providing specialized care for newborns from birth to 28 days in a secure, 17-bed unit within our 326-bed acute care facility.
Key Responsibilities:
The RN will evaluate assigned patients, plan, implement, and document nursing care. Responsibilities include assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, performing various patient tests, and administering medications in accordance with nursing standards.
Patient Care Focus:
Promoting patient independence is essential. The RN will establish care goals and educate patients and families on understanding medical conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an associate's degree and be certified as a registered nurse from an accredited nursing program. A valid nursing license in the State of Texas is required. Familiarity with standard nursing concepts and practices is essential.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Internship or a minimum of 3 months experience as a registered nurse.
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.
- CPR, NRP, and STABLE certifications are required, with some being obtainable within the first 90 days of employment at no cost.
- Preferred experience includes NICU or pediatric nursing.
- Letters of recommendation are preferred for candidates with less than one year of relevant nursing experience.
- Successful completion of any pre-employment assessments is mandatory.
