POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for delivering daily living assistance and support to individuals within the agency's Community Integrated Living Arrangements, under the guidance of the CILA Team Leader and with the backing of the Supported Living Program Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate training and support for residents in Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA) focusing on daily living activities (e.g., personal hygiene), community engagement (e.g., outings), and financial independence skills (e.g., accurate financial record-keeping).
  • Provide direct personal care or supervision as required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to residents and their families, fostering positive relationships and effective communication.
  • Ensure residents' medication requirements are fulfilled by monitoring and documenting their medication schedules, and promptly reporting any health concerns to the supervisor.
  • Engage with the community to assist residents in accessing resources and building natural support systems, including providing transportation for clients.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Manage basic household needs such as food, program supplies, and cleaning materials, while maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the residence, including daily housekeeping duties.
  • Adhere to and uphold all safety protocols and participate in safety drills.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:

No supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required. Experience in a residential environment supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing routine reports and basic correspondence. Proficient in interpreting documents such as safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group settings with residents and other staff members.

MATH SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers. Competence in handling American currency and measurements, as well as calculating percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS:

A valid driver's license and current auto insurance are required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Must possess effective communication skills developed through training and instruction, adapt to changing program needs, and demonstrate a genuine interest in client welfare. Ability to learn behavioral principles through training. Must achieve a passing score of eighty percent or higher on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Proficiency in basic computer operations for client data management, incident reporting, and other necessary processes as determined by supervisory staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; and is frequently required to communicate verbally. The employee often stands, walks, and sits. Occasionally, the employee may need to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. The employee consistently lifts up to 10 lbs and occasionally lifts between 11 lbs - 50 lbs. The role requires repetitive hand movements for simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation. The employee must be able to operate the agency's van and assist individuals as needed, including maneuvering wheelchairs or aiding clients in mobility and transfers. Staying awake during the work shift is essential. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
