Role Summary

The Telemetry Monitoring Specialist is responsible for observing, interpreting, and documenting EKG readings for patients under telemetry monitoring. This role is crucial for identifying any irregularities in cardiac rhythms and promptly communicating findings to the appropriate medical staff. The specialist will operate the monitoring systems efficiently and ensure that all telemetry equipment is functioning safely and correctly.

Completion of a recognized monitor technician training program is mandatory upon employment.

For candidates who have not completed such a program, a certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting the position.

Alternatively, candidates with one year of relevant experience in monitor technician surveillance within the past five years may be considered in lieu of formal training.

To successfully complete the new employee orientation, all Telemetry Monitoring Specialists must pass the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency assessment, which includes a basic arrhythmia examination.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Mandatory)

Certification in EKG/Monitor Technology
