Position Overview

The Cardiac Monitoring Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the physiological status of patients through advanced electronic monitoring systems. This position is essential for ensuring timely communication with the healthcare team regarding any deviations or alarms, adhering strictly to departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Monitoring: Vigilantly observe patient physiological parameters using electronic monitoring systems, ensuring that monitoring stations are consistently staffed to maintain patient safety.
  • Equipment Management: Regularly verify the proper functioning of monitoring equipment in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Promptly report any malfunctions to supervisory personnel.
  • Data Documentation: Accurately document patient data in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to departmental standards. This includes monitoring vital signs such as cardiac rhythm, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
  • Alarm Management: Conduct checks on alarm settings and physiological monitoring orders every two hours, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines.
  • Communication: Utilize effective interpersonal skills to communicate vital information to patients and staff, fostering a supportive and professional environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to problem-solving and teamwork.
  • Customer Service: Uphold a high standard of service delivery, ensuring that the needs of both internal and external customers are met with professionalism and respect.
  • Compliance: Maintain patient and employee confidentiality at all times, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.

Licensure: ECG Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, bend, stoop, and reach as necessary. Strong communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential, along with meticulous attention to detail.
