Position Overview:
Deliver direct, non-invasive, and routine patient care along with essential support services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include interviewing patients and monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), maintaining supplies and equipment, and transporting patients. Additionally, assist in the orientation of new staff members and support patients who are unable to perform self-care.
Support patients with prescribed exercise routines, perform routine tube care, change catheter bags, collect non-sterile specimens, and conduct oral suctioning. Document intake and output, including bowel and bladder functions. Observe patients closely and operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts, while ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignments may involve Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Safety: Adhere to patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Professional Development: Engage in educational programs, read current literature, and attend workshops to enhance professional growth.
- Proactive Safety Measures: Seek opportunities to improve patient safety by questioning existing policies and processes.
- Environmental Awareness: Identify and report conditions that may pose risks to patient safety.
- Patient Engagement: Encourage patients to participate actively in their care by asking questions and voicing concerns.
- Basic Patient Care: Provide fundamental patient care, including taking and recording vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements.
- Patient Observation: Monitor patients to ensure their safety and well-being, reporting observations to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel.
- ADL Assistance: Support patients with daily living activities, including meals, mobility, hygiene, linen changes, and toileting as directed.
- Therapeutic Care: Maintain a therapeutic care plan for patients at high risk.
- Documentation: Complete required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record.
