Patient Care Associate

The SSN FIT Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a vital member of the Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) system's internal float-pool, serving multiple hospitals under the organization-wide umbrella. As a PCA, you will be part of a dynamic team that supplements unit/department-based resources during periods of high census fluctuation, legislative leaves, and staffing needs.
As a PCA, you will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and willingly accept changing assignments and job duties at the beginning and throughout the shift as requested. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate care that provides a safe, comfortable, and healing environment.
You will utilize interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in safe patient care and professionalism. You will contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.
Responsibilities:- Perform direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate care that provides a safe, comfortable, and healing environment.

- Perform other duties as needed.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or successful completion of a Medical Assisting (MA) program, or completion of School of Nursing Fundamentals required.
- Minimum six months nursing assistant or MA experience preferred.
You will possess knowledge of unlicensed assistant personnel scope of practice for healthcare and be able to speak, read, and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred). You will also be able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Outlook, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program.
You will be able to operate and troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position and perform basic patient care activities using proper body mechanics and safety precautions. You will also be able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
Licensures and Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association required.
