Job Summary

Cornell University is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join our team in the Small Animal Cardiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the educational mission of our college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for and assist with cardiology exams, including blood sample collection, IV catheter placement, and injections.
  • Assist with the care of hospitalized patients, including C-arm and power injector manipulation, and gathering surgical supplies for procedures.
  • Perform and educate veterinary students and house staff on blood sample collection, IV catheter placement, injections, blood pressure measurements, 12-lead ECG recording, and Holter placement.
  • Orient students on clinical cardiology rotation and centralize messages from rDVM and clients, including medication refill requests, collect lab work results, and pass messages onto the appropriate staff member.
  • Act as a liaison with other services for efficient patient care and oversee the diagnostic workup of each patient, including handling and monitoring of equipment.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and NYS licensure with one to two years of experience as an LVT or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records of patients in both written and electronic form.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional manner at all times and utilize multiple computer programs as required for EMR and data collection.
  • Must be patient and have strong animal handling skills, with the ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing and kneeling, lifting, and restraining animals.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
