Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for collaborating with other repair team members to diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel engines and vehicle systems. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with customers and review work orders to evaluate tasks required
  • Develop work plans after thoroughly assessing vehicle issues
  • Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpret results to provide suitable solutions
  • Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts
  • Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
  • Conduct field visits for emergency or sudden breakdowns
  • Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge performance
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
  • Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and vehicle mechanisms
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
  • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
  • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
  • Specialized knowledge of auto/manual transmission systems (Allison/Eaton, etc.)
  • Specialized knowledge of diesel engine components (DD13/DD15 Cummins ISX-15 Paccar motors, etc.)
  • Specialized knowledge of DEF/DPF/SCR systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
  • Proficiency in diesel engine diagnostic software
  • Valid driver's license
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Certification
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a guaranteed 40-hour workweek and pay every Friday. You will be provided with a service van and will be required to relocate to Upper Marlboro, MD before starting work. The work location is on the road, and you will be required to work on call and weekends as needed.
