The Lead Mechanical Engineer will serve as a pivotal technical authority, overseeing facility engineering projects throughout the entire lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, warranty, and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough code enforcement design and construction reviews to ensure compliance with mechanical codes and standards.
- Perform inspections and surveys of existing facilities, ensuring adherence to approved designs and applicable regulations.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting any violations with appropriate code references and photographic evidence when necessary.
- Evaluate designs for sustainability, reliability, and redundancy, providing constructive feedback on equipment selections and strategies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance the mechanical engineering practice within the organization.
- Supervise and mentor assigned staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and fostering professional growth.
Technical Expertise:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal building codes, construction practices, and safety standards.
- Possess a strong background in mechanical systems, including air-handling equipment, boilers, chillers, and other related machinery.
- Demonstrate proficiency in construction project management software and mobile technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited institution.
- A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in design, construction, or operation of mechanical systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level Clearance.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina for extensive site inspections, including walking, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
