Job Overview

The Maymont Foundation is looking for an Accounting Specialist II to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in ensuring the integrity of financial data within our accounting system and performing a variety of accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee weekly processing, including client input, invoice generation, payment entry, and balance tracking.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the analysis of financial data and preparation of monthly reports concerning financial performance, operational expenses, and capital investments.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support the preparation of necessary compliance reports for state and federal regulations.
  • Donation Processing: Manage entries for contributions and revenue recorded through Altru software.
  • Asset Management: Handle entries related to fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
  • Investment Accounting: Create entries for endowment and investment accounts for accurate reconciliation and allocation.
  • Remote Deposits: Prepare and process remote check deposits.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide backup for accounts payable, cash receipts, and general accounting tasks as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the finance and accounting team to communicate progress, suggest improvements, and enhance processes.
  • Additional Duties: Assist with various tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Core Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge is advantageous.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and take initiative.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in accounting or business administration; or equivalent experience of 5 years in progressively responsible accounting roles.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and general business terminology.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate for extended periods.
  • Capability to climb, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
