We assist healthcare providers in tracking the use of prescription medications and illicit substances, enhancing clinical decision-making for millions of individuals facing chronic pain, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.
The Specimen Collection Specialist II plays a crucial role at Millennium Health. As a representative of our organization, this position is dedicated to delivering outstanding care and exceptional service to patients, healthcare providers, and our laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect urine and/or oral fluid (saliva) specimens from patients.
- Process and package specimens for shipping.
- Act as a liaison between the clinic and the laboratory.
- Document patient details, physician orders, and relevant laboratory information.
- Address specimen-related concerns regarding billing or patient information in the ordering portal.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of collection supplies on-site.
- Observe specimen collection procedures for Millennium Health specimens when applicable.
- Travel between multiple facilities may be necessary, including occasional overnight coverage.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience as a specimen collector or 1+ years in a medical role directly supporting patients.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience may substitute for medical experience.
- Proficiency in navigating smartphones and computers is required.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Familiarity with medical insurance/billing and/or knowledge of medications and diagnostic codes is advantageous.
- Commitment to adhering to HIPAA, HiTrust, confidentiality, and compliance policies and standards.
- Ability to maintain administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity controls.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Physical demands include sitting (90%), walking (5%), standing (5%), and lifting up to 20 lbs.
