Position SummaryAs a Senior Unmanned Aerial Systems Test Pilot, you will play a pivotal role in the development and evaluation of our advanced aerial platforms. Your expertise will guide the testing and validation processes, ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive flight tests of unmanned aerial systems, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
- Collaborate with the Test Engineering team to develop and refine test procedures, contributing to the overall success of the product development lifecycle.
- Engage in design reviews and technical discussions, providing valuable insights based on flight test data and operational experience.
- Act as a key advisor during safety reviews and airworthiness assessments, ensuring that all testing activities align with regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Flight Test Engineers to create effective test plans and evaluate system performance against specifications.
- Participate in training sessions for test teams, ensuring that all personnel are well-prepared for flight operations.
- Utilize your extensive knowledge of system design and requirements to prioritize testing activities and manage timelines effectively.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in flight test engineering.
- At least 1,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command time, with a focus on unmanned aircraft.
- Commercial Pilot certification with an Instrument rating.
- Current FAA Class 2 Medical certification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on technical documentation.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, including MATLAB, JIRA, and MS Office.
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Graduation from a U.S. military test pilot school or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience as a test pilot, particularly with developmental aircraft.
- Advanced degrees in Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
- Experience with high-performance turbine aircraft and tactical military systems.
