Commercial Lines Insurance Account Manager

Position Overview:
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, providing flexibility while supporting our clients in the insurance sector.
Location: Glen Allen, VA
The primary responsibility is to assist Property and Casualty producers and Account Executives in managing mid-sized and moderately complex client accounts. This includes a thorough understanding of insurance coverages, carrier protocols, underwriting practices, and regulatory changes to foster strong relationships with clients and carrier representatives. Additionally, the role involves identifying opportunities for new coverage lines for existing clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and nurture vital relationships with clients and carriers through various communication channels.
- Address service inquiries from clients and team members regarding administration, billing, claims, and other issues as needed.
- Proactively identify cross-selling opportunities and recommend additional coverage options.
- Collaborate with producers and/or Account Executives to oversee the renewal process for assigned accounts, coordinating meetings to present renewal options and supporting documentation.
- Conduct regular account management visits to review renewal strategies and formulate action plans with producers to resolve any concerns.
- Review monthly claims reports and provide clients with timely updates on their claims status.
- Support administrative tasks, including special projects and the development of innovative services as requested.
- Utilize the Agency Management System effectively to manage client interactions, document meetings, and track service issues.
- Engage in continuous professional development through seminars and training sessions to stay informed about new products and legislative changes.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior Account Managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Property and Casualty insurance or a similar area.
- Preferred: State-issued insurance license, to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Experience with large retail accounts is preferred; however, experience with small to medium accounts will also be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings.
