Key Responsibilities

As the Accounting Manager for the Washington Area, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations for a designated office.
  • Execute specialized accounting tasks and establish internal controls in line with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual commitments.
  • Collaborate with Department Managers and the Regional Controller to manage and synchronize departmental and project accounting systems, ensuring accurate monitoring of general ledger accounts, project budgets, invoicing, payables, receivables, and other financial data.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including invoicing and reporting formats, net fee forecasts, and financial quality assurance.
  • Analyze and review financial statements.
  • Coordinate and evaluate annual departmental budgets.
  • Provide management with insights regarding the financial performance of departments and projects.
  • Supervise department accountants in collecting employee time and expense reports, ensuring the accuracy of project numbers, resource codes, and receipts.
  • Guide department accountants and project controllers in project accounting and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Recommend staffing solutions to management.
  • Engage with vendors related to departmental operations as necessary.
  • Occasionally communicate directly with clients regarding invoicing, receivables, and project reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree may compensate for years of experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while collaborating with various managers in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-driven, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Capability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • A commitment to actively participate in our employee-owned culture is essential.
