Key Responsibilities
As an Automation Control Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Executing complex tasks while exercising judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard engineering methods and practices
- Managing workload through design development and documentation phases to ensure timely completion of projects
- Overseeing systems integration of the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) system, including programming of PLCs/PCs and customizing HMI for various control software applications
- Reviewing electrical documentation for discrepancies across all disciplines
- Writing and refining I&C specifications, and selecting appropriate equipment and monitoring/control devices
- Collaborating with and supporting affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, ensuring agreed-upon modifications are integrated into project documentation
- Making critical decisions on design and engineering procedures as necessary
- Acting as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-sized projects as required, although project management is not the primary focus of this role
- Supervising a small team of professionals and technicians as needed
- Providing construction contract administration as required
- Performing additional duties as necessary
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience with PLC/WTP and WWTP software programming
- Practical experience in designing I&C Systems, including schematics and loops
- Proven experience managing I&C projects
- Familiarity with Modicon, Wonderware, and Interlution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture is essential
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with an Architecture & Engineering/Consulting Engineering firm
- Programming experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) / Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- SCADA HMI configuration experience
- Experience using AutoCAD, Plant3D, or REVIT for generating design documents
- Design or commissioning experience in Data Center Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), PLC-based Building Management Systems (BMS), and/or Direct Digital Control Building Automation Systems (DDC BAS)
