Key Responsibilities

As an Automation Control Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Executing complex tasks while exercising judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard engineering methods and practices
  • Managing workload through design development and documentation phases to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Overseeing systems integration of the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) system, including programming of PLCs/PCs and customizing HMI for various control software applications
  • Reviewing electrical documentation for discrepancies across all disciplines
  • Writing and refining I&C specifications, and selecting appropriate equipment and monitoring/control devices
  • Collaborating with and supporting affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, ensuring agreed-upon modifications are integrated into project documentation
  • Making critical decisions on design and engineering procedures as necessary
  • Acting as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-sized projects as required, although project management is not the primary focus of this role
  • Supervising a small team of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Providing construction contract administration as required
  • Performing additional duties as necessary
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with PLC/WTP and WWTP software programming
  • Practical experience in designing I&C Systems, including schematics and loops
  • Proven experience managing I&C projects
  • Familiarity with Modicon, Wonderware, and Interlution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture is essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with an Architecture & Engineering/Consulting Engineering firm
  • Programming experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) / Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • SCADA HMI configuration experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Plant3D, or REVIT for generating design documents
  • Design or commissioning experience in Data Center Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), PLC-based Building Management Systems (BMS), and/or Direct Digital Control Building Automation Systems (DDC BAS)
