About the Role

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transportation group, you will play a critical role in leading and managing complex traffic engineering projects from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion, and delivering high-quality results.
  • Traffic Analysis: Conduct thorough traffic analyses, utilizing advanced modeling tools and software, to evaluate roadway capacity, operational analysis, and signal warrant analyses.
  • Design Oversight: Provide design oversight for the production of roadway, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals, and traffic management system design plans.
  • Team Leadership: Organize and supervise the work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure project success.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in traffic engineering, resolving complex problems, and developing innovative solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in traffic engineering, with a strong background in project management, traffic analysis, and design.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with traffic operational analysis software, including Synchro, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Sidra, VISUM, VISSIM, and other traffic analysis software.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with computer programming or programming scripts, such as Python, Excel VBA, or VBS, and C#.
  • GIS and ITS Experience: Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design, signing/marking, and maintenance of traffic (MOT) design.
