Heavy Equipment Operator - Quarry Transport

Job Overview:

Position Summary:

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating dump trucks utilized for the transportation of construction materials, earth, or refuse between various sites. Your role will involve driving trucks equipped with open beds, facilitating the movement of materials such as dirt, stones, sand, coal, or gravel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Comprehend and execute both verbal and written directives.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely.
  • Report to and assist your immediate supervisor.
  • Deliver quality work in accordance with project specifications.
  • Account for all tools and materials at the conclusion of your shift.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Operational Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Class A CDL, with proficiency in 10-speed manual transmission.
  • Pass a DOT drug screening and physical examination.
  • Maintain DOT compliance consistently.
  • Register with DACH.
  • Operate equipment using hand and foot controls.
  • Interpret hand signals for material placement.
  • Assemble or disassemble equipment or materials on job sites.
  • Manage equipment on uneven surfaces.
  • Conduct inspections of truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, and fluids, performing pre and post-trip checks.
  • Verify that materials are loaded securely and review shipping documents for accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Two to four years of relevant experience with Commercial Driver Licenses.
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation Quiz.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of oneself or others in the workplace.
  • Compliance with job site safety requirements as mandated by the client.
  • Utilization of required safety equipment as specified by the client.

Physical Demands:

  • Adhere to the company's drug and alcohol policy.
  • Ability to pass physical examinations as required.
  • Capable of climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of tools and materials; assistance is recommended for heavier items.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be clean-shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment when necessary.

Work Environment:

Location: Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication facilities.

Mobility Barriers:

  • Uneven ground levels.
  • Obstructed pathways.
  • Work performed at various elevations.
  • Work in confined areas.

Climatic Conditions:

  • Primarily outdoor work environment.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Potential for high humidity and rain.
  • Various noise levels from tools and machinery.
  • Possible exposure to chemical substances.
