Job Description

TEKsystems is seeking a highly skilled Windows Desktop Engineer II to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure environments, including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and document architectural designs for endpoint hardware and operating system configurations.
  • Perform secure baseline image creation and tailoring of Windows operating system images for specific hardware configurations.
  • Conduct Windows 7/10 Readiness and Compatibility Assessments of hardware, software, and infrastructure environments.
  • Support application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control in an Enterprise environment.
  • Write documentation, including project plans, backup plans, business continuance, installation procedures, and troubleshooting tips.
  • Develop Windows 10 Base Images, crafting the operating system and GPO settings to integrate with all enterprise hardware and software.
  • Create and maintain custom task sequences and other custom code for front-end image management.
  • Integrate BitLocker and MBAM into imaging processes.
  • Provide desktop management automation through scripting to deliver consistent and predictable services.
  • Pack and release software via software center.
  • Maintain documentation of activities and checklists for tasks.
  • Manage incidents with hardware vendors in the event of a problem relating to supported hardware platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in the client environment that could impact deliverables.
  • Ensure drivers and UEFI/BIOS levels and configurations are certified.
  • Ensure images load without errors and completely in all supported scenarios.
  • Validate images meet customer requirements and internal quality guidelines.
  • Conduct sanity testing of images before delivery for QA testing.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years specializing in Windows desktop, server, and enterprise technologies.
  • Working understanding of Active Directory, including Kerberos, GPO, LDAP, and Forest/Domain design/deployment.
  • At least 5 years of Active directory experience, including establishing and managing GPOs to enable features and control security settings.
  • At least 5 years of experience using Microsoft SCCM to create, manage, and deploy application packages, operating systems images, and patches.
  • Bachelor's Degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and 8 – 12 years of related experience.
