The Opportunity

SUNY Empire, a pioneering online university, seeks a visionary Vice President of Human Resources to drive strategic growth and excellence. As the inaugural holder of this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the university's HR function, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the university's mission and goals.
  • Lead the Human Resources Department in providing exceptional service to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive organizational change and improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee employee recruitment, retention, and development programs, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Provide expert guidance on labor contracts, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and systems to support the university's growth and success.
About the Role

This is a fully on-site role, requiring a strong presence on campus. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, a collaborative leader, and a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in a human resources-related leadership position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws, policies, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or terminal degree from an accredited institution.
  • Human Resources certification (e.g., Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Society for Human Resource Management-Senior Certified Professional).
  • Human Resources leadership experience (at the level of director or above) in a unionized higher education environment.
What We Offer
