Job Title: Social Worker

Organization: Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology

Reports To: Principal

Position Summary:

The Social Worker role is essential in fostering students' social, emotional, and academic growth by facilitating ongoing social-emotional learning, providing counseling services, and linking students and their families to vital school and community resources. This position requires monitoring and evaluating students' social and emotional development to enhance their coping mechanisms, improve interpersonal relationships, and promote overall well-being. Furthermore, the Social Worker will collaborate with school leadership to support the principal's vision and align educational practices with the institution's objectives.

To actively involve students, their families, and the broader community in scientific inquiry and innovative technology, equipping them with the social, emotional, and academic skills necessary to succeed in school and navigate today's interconnected world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the school's vision by delivering support through essential skills such as counseling, crisis management, resource linkage, and student advocacy to enhance student welfare.
  • Establish community connections and provide resources to families, ensuring they are well-informed and connected to necessary support.
  • Oversee the execution of the school's comprehensive support framework through consistent monitoring and observation.
  • Conduct informal evaluations and offer constructive feedback to educators and families, particularly for new students.
  • Facilitate support groups and collaborate with teachers to implement effective social-emotional learning strategies.
  • Track students' social and emotional development and coordinate interventions based on assessments.
  • Analyze student data to recommend adjustments to support strategies.
  • Utilize observations and data to identify professional development needs for staff related to social-emotional learning and create tailored training sessions.
  • Assist in reviewing student support plans and provide insights to educators and staff.
  • Maintain regular attendance and be available for on-site responsibilities during standard business hours and as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or district-level administration.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work (MSW) or a related discipline from an accredited institution is mandatory.

Certification/License:

  • Preferred candidates should hold or be eligible for a certificate issued by NYS Professional Standards.
