We are in search of a devoted and enthusiastic Educational Support Specialist to assist students in their academic and social growth, ensuring their full engagement in all scheduled lessons and activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the educator in developing curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Work alongside the educator to design and implement programs tailored to the unique needs of each student.

Encourage student interest in learning by providing individualized support.

  • Assist educators in modifying the instructional program as necessary.
  • Supervise students during instructional time and in the absence of the educator.
  • Support students during meal times.
  • Assist with student hygiene requirements.
  • Be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Collaborate with team members to effectively support all students in program activities.
  • Gather progress monitoring data related to academic, social, and behavioral aspects.
  • Perform clerical and record-keeping tasks or other general housekeeping duties as directed by the educator/supervisor.
  • Conduct research for instructional resources and distribute materials to students.
  • Assist students with boarding and disembarking from transportation.
  • Actively engage in school aquatic programs.
  • Participate in school-wide events with students.
  • Attend staff and in-service meetings as required.
  • Implement effective systems to address student needs and apply individualized interventions, including intensive support as necessary, utilizing positive behavioral strategies.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

  • Proven ability to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Strong commitment to personal development and continuous improvement.
  • Student-centered mindset.
  • Excellent communication abilities (both verbal and written).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects effectively.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Some college education and experience working with children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Willingness to assist with student hygiene needs.
  • Capability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds.
