Austal USA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations - Homeport to lead our homeport operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our homeport, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all homeport operations, including vessel maintenance, repair, and refit activities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of services.
- Manage and supervise a team of operations staff, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless integration of operations and support functions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of homeport operations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and manage budgets for homeport operations, ensuring that costs are controlled and resources are allocated effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a shipbuilding or ship repair environment.
- Proven track record of success in operations management, with a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to the homeport and other Austal USA facilities. The position will also require occasional work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
