Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager to join our team at PPL Services Corporation. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading the procurement process for assigned categories, developing negotiation strategies, and managing the supply chain process from specification to execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Leadership
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve business objectives
    • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate business risks
    • Manage the procurement process from RFP to contract execution
  • Supply Chain Management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and partners
    • Manage the supply chain process from specification to execution
    • Evaluate sources of supply and develop optimal pricing methodologies
  • Negotiation and Contract Management
    • Develop negotiation strategies to achieve optimal business results
    • Manage contracts and agreements with suppliers and partners
    • Identify and mitigate business risks associated with contracts
  • Market Analysis and Financial Analysis
    • Perform market analysis to determine business risk associated with suppliers and contracts
    • Develop financial analysis to determine optimal pricing methodologies
    • Identify and mitigate business risks associated with financial transactions
  • Category Management
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of market drivers, supplier base, and emerging technologies
    • Exhibit ownership of the entire supply chain for assigned categories
    • Manage the supply chain process from specification to execution
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Act as primary liaison to suppliers and partners
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives
  • Emergency and Storm Response
    • May be assigned to work in emergency and storm response roles
    • May be required to work outside of normal schedule
    Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager with a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related field
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of services buying experience (Intermediate Category Manager)
    • Minimum of 5 years of services buying experience (Senior Category Manager)
  • Skills
    • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
    • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases
    • Demonstrated problem-assessment and problem-solving skills
    • Strong customer service focus supporting an operating company
Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager with a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience
    • Experience in Electric and Gas Utility supply chain (Distribution and/or Transmission and Substations)
  • Certifications
    • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M)
  • Skills
    • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement models
    • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
    • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
