Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Director to join our team at The New Jewish Home. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for providing strategic HR leadership, overseeing all aspects of employee and management support across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive HR leadership, managing employee and labor relations, leadership development, and ensuring the achievement of organizational goals.\
  • Manage employee relations, including conducting grievances, investigations, and collaborating with union representatives (1199 SEIU, NYSNA, UFT, 32BJ).\
  • Lead performance management processes, including setting expectations, providing feedback, and recognizing achievements.\
  • Foster a positive work environment that supports employee well-being and aligns with the organization's values.\
  • Develop, implement, and manage HR policies and procedures that promote continuous improvement in internal operations and service delivery.\
  • Collaborate closely with both internal and external legal teams to minimize legal risks and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.\
  • Participate in contract negotiations and arbitration hearings.\
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring for non-union, bargaining unit staff, interns, and agency staff across multiple sites.\
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and compliance with labor laws across all entities.\
  • Monitor employee engagement levels and address areas for improvement.\
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee and patient/resident satisfaction.\
  • Simplify and automate HR processes to achieve operational efficiency.\
  • Utilize data, market intelligence, and industry trends to inform HR decisions and improve business outcomes.\
  • Manage HR systems to maintain high data integrity and provide insights into people-related issues.\
  • Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, ensuring they meet defined deliverables.\
  • Provide coaching to managers on effectively leading their teams, navigating employee relations issues, and managing talent development programs.\
  • Partner with Corporate and organizational entities to drive people development and performance.\
  • Participate in leadership meetings and committees to provide HR insights and contribute to decision-making processes.\
  • Lead and support strategic initiatives to strengthen the overall work environment and align with organizational goals.\
  • Manage special projects affecting operations, oversee the collection and analysis of HR data, and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational regulations.\
  • Drive programs that communicate the organization's values and goals.\
  • Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, required. Master's Degree, or Juris Doctorate degree, preferred.\
  • Minimum of five (5) years Human Resource generalist experience in a unionized environment, required; at least 3 years of HR management experience leading an HR team or the equivalent acute experience in a hospital or health care setting greatly preferred.\
  • Knowledge of labor laws (EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, NLRA) and HR fundamentals, required.\
  • Proficient PC and Microsoft application skills, required. Knowledge of Lawson and ADP preferred.\
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills to support, advise, coach and influence others, required.\
  • Demonstrated success as a key influencer of human capital decisions in a fast-paced, matrixed reporting environment.\
  • Proven leadership, people and change management experience.\
  • Strong planning, communication, and organization skills.\
  • Demonstrated track record of leading an environment and culture of accountability, while also fostering a positive employee experience through the life of team member and beyond the walls of the organization.\
  • **Salary Range:** $120,000 - $180,000 per annum\
