Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Senior Estate Planning Counsel will play a pivotal role in delivering thorough estate planning solutions to clients. This position involves the formulation and oversight of essential legal documents such as wills, trusts, and various estate planning instruments. The ideal candidate will engage with clients to comprehend their financial aspirations and family dynamics, conduct legal research, draft necessary legal documentation, and provide strategic counsel to help clients realize their estate planning goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of critical legal documents required for estate planning, including but not limited to last wills and testaments, personal property memoranda, financial powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, living wills, HIPAA releases, beneficiary deeds, living trusts, and other pertinent documents.
  • Facilitating and leading client consultations, both virtually and face-to-face, to evaluate client requirements and deliver customized legal guidance.
  • Employing advanced technology platforms to optimize workflows and improve client interactions.
  • Overseeing client cases through a structured process from initial consultation to document finalization and ongoing management.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including financial advisors, accountants, and insurance experts, to provide holistic estate planning services.
  • Keeping abreast of legislative changes and regulations impacting estate planning to ensure adherence to all legal standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage the legal components of all estate planning cases.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing.
  • Exceptional drafting abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to handle multiple client cases simultaneously.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency in utilizing technology for legal practice management.
  • Dedication to upholding client confidentiality and trust.

Experience and Education:

  • Prior experience in estate planning is preferred, whether as a licensed attorney or law clerk (1+ years).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree

Attendance Requirements:

  • Regular attendance (primarily virtual) is expected during standard business hours.
  • In-person attendance is required for initial training and select meetings.

Position Type:

This is a full-time role with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary based on job demands.

Travel:

Travel, if required, will mainly be local during business hours, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

The physical demands for this role include standing for extended periods, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and manual dexterity. The mental requirements involve problem-solving, decision-making, data interpretation, and effective communication.
