We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Worker II to join our Water Distribution team in the City of Norfolk, VA.
Job Summary:The Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for performing general labor duties, including equipment maintenance, fueling, unloading materials, and digging. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction equipment, materials, and work tasks, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Dig and refill trenches and other excavations
- Cut asphalt and concrete
- Maintain lawns
- Load, unload, lift, and carry tools, equipment, and chemicals
- Make minor repairs to underground water service lines
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience as a Maintenance Worker
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
The City of Norfolk offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. Additionally, employees may be eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
Work Environment:The Maintenance Worker II will work in a fast-paced environment with a team of experienced professionals. The work schedule will include Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with occasional standby duty rotation.
