Senior Technical Program Manager, Outbound Communication and Marketing Technology

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager to spearhead the execution of innovative programs and initiatives for the future of customer communications at Amazon. Our division, Outbound Communication, plays a pivotal role in delivering messages to a vast audience through various channels including Email, SMS, Push notifications, and other emerging platforms. We manage essential services that facilitate the transmission of over 350 million messages daily.

Our mission is to enhance the experience of Amazon customers globally by providing engaging content that supports their shopping journeys. We achieve this by promoting awareness and discovery of Amazon's diverse products and services, ensuring that we connect with customers through their preferred communication channels, delivering the most pertinent content at optimal times and frequencies.

As our team continues to grow, we are looking for an individual who thrives in dynamic and uncertain environments, possesses a proven track record of technical leadership on projects of Amazon's scale and complexity, and has successfully executed cross-organizational initiatives on a global level. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to clearly convey and present your vision to senior leadership are crucial for this position.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves expanding our mission to engage customers effectively while developing next-generation systems that balance Amazon's evolving business needs, brand management, and the imperative to maintain a high standard of Customer Experience (CX).

  1. Oversee and deliver projects across more than 30 VP-level organizations, with visibility extending to the senior leadership team.
  2. Collaborate with a large Product and Tech organization on initiatives aimed at modernizing existing architectures, enhancing the resilience of Tier-1 services, and facilitating partner teams' transition to a centralized communication management framework for both marketing and non-marketing messages across multiple channels (including email, in-app push, SMS, and WhatsApp).
  3. Provide updates to senior leadership regarding the progress and challenges associated with these critical launches, while also driving technical directives at the organizational level.
  4. Engage deeply with Amazon's technical infrastructure, analytics, and AI capabilities, working alongside talented software engineers, data scientists, analysts, visual designers, and marketing professionals throughout the company.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. 7+ years of experience in technical product or program management.
  2. 10+ years of direct collaboration with engineering teams.
  3. 5+ years of software development experience.
  4. Proven experience in managing programs across cross-functional teams, establishing processes, and coordinating release schedules.
  5. 8+ years of hands-on experience managing complex technology projects.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage projects across cross-functional teams, creating sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules.
