The National Guard Employment Network is seeking a qualified Part-time Assistant Professor to teach cohorts of students within a programmatic core discipline as assigned. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for education and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses within a programmatic core discipline as assigned
- Engage students, offer excellent feedback, and inspire students to achieve course and program outcomes relevant to the core discipline
- Work closely with other faculty teaching in the discipline, Department Chair, and Dean
- Email/record and post a welcome letter to assigned students one week prior to the start of course, when feasible, but always within the first week of the course
- Record and post a video introduction which will be placed in each course
- Answer all student emails within two calendar days, unless on PTO or a holiday observed by the University
- Communicate with students within the University learning management system (LMS), University-designated systems, and through University-assigned email
- Contact Student Services in the LMS as soon as determining a student is not actively participating in the course
- Contact a student by email and phone to encourage re-engagement in the course as soon as determining a student is not actively participating
- Host no less than two one-hour synchronous office hour sessions per week, as technologically supported by the platform
- Provide quality feedback to students, including substantive and reflective content, and a summative statement at the beginning or end of the document
- Meet the University's requirements for scholarship as articulated in the Faculty Handbook
- Contribute to the body of knowledge of their discipline
- Comply with University policies as stated in the Team Member Handbook and Faculty Handbook
- Master's degree in Communications, Media, or a related field from a regionally accredited university
- At least 1 year of teaching experience, or a communications or media professional
- Online and onsite teaching experience
- Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States
- Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Communications
- Ability to participate as an active team member and work toward a common goal
- Accepts personal accountability and supports honesty and respect towards others, the company, and oneself
- Ability to generate and/or recognize imaginative or creative solutions that generate successful outcomes
- Working knowledge of office management systems within a higher education environment, preferred
- Ability to drive towards achieving measurable and challenging goals to support organizational success
- Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications
- Experience using Student Information System (SIS) such as SOAR/Peoplesoft systems
