We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Spanish to join our faculty at San Diego Mesa College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish for Spanish Speakers courses, serving as Program Director/Coordinator for the program, and contributing to conditions for students to succeed both in the classroom and throughout the campus.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Spanish for Spanish Speakers courses, including beginning and intermediate level Spanish courses
  • Serve as Program Director/Coordinator for the Spanish Speaker program
  • Contribute to conditions for students to succeed both in the classroom and throughout the campus
  • Participate in department and campus committees
Qualifications:
  • Master's in the language being taught or Bachelor's in the language being taught and Master's in another language or linguistics
  • Desirable qualifications include evidence of recent and successful experience teaching Spanish for Spanish Speakers, an understanding of the community college environment and mission, and knowledge of contemporary philosophies and methods of instruction and assessment
