Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Part-time Assistant Professor to join our team at the National Guard Employment Network. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching cohorts of students within a programmatic core discipline as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses within a programmatic core discipline as assigned
  • Engage students, offer excellent feedback, and inspire students to achieve course and program outcomes relevant to the core discipline
  • Work closely with other faculty teaching in the discipline, Department Chair, and Dean
Performance Standards
  • Email/record and post a welcome letter to assigned students one week prior to the start of course, when feasible, but always within the first week of the course
  • Record and post a video introduction which will be placed in each course
  • Answer all student emails within two calendar days, unless on PTO or during a holiday observed by the University
  • Communicate with students within the University learning management system (LMS) and University-designated systems
  • Contact Student Services in the LMS as soon as you determine a student is not actively participating in the course
  • Contact a student by email and phone to encourage re-engagement in the course as soon as you determine a student is not actively participating
  • Host no less than two one-hour synchronous office hour sessions per week, as technologically supported by the platform
  • Provide quality feedback to students, including substantive and content-focused feedback, and feedback that imparts knowledge and shares resources

  • Meet the University's requirements for scholarship as articulated in the Faculty Handbook
  • Contribute to the body of knowledge of your discipline
Compliance with University Policies
  • Know, acknowledge, and comply with University policies as stated in the Team Member Handbook and Faculty Handbook
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Communications, Media, or a related field from a regionally accredited university
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience, or a communications or media professional
  • Online and onsite teaching experience
  • Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Communications

  • Experience with the online delivery of education and the systems that support it
