Job Summary

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Internal Auditor (Internal Auditor V) to join our team. As a key member of our Internal Audit Division, you will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, developing audit programs, and performing highly advanced and/or supervisory internal auditing work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop audit programs to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations.
  • Perform highly advanced and/or supervisory internal auditing work, including conducting audit procedures, reaching conclusions based on evidence, and making recommendations to improve operations.
  • Supervise the work of audit staff and lead and assign the work of audit staff as needed.
  • Act on behalf of the Director of Internal Audit during absence.
  • May conduct or assist in conducting special investigations.
  • May travel up to 25% of the time to perform work duties such as representing the Internal Audit Division at various department and external business meetings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Either six (6) years progressive auditing experience performing financial, program, organizational, performance, IT, and/or compliance audits, or relevant certification with five (5) years progressive auditing experience performing financial, program, organizational, performance, IT, and/or compliance audits.
  • Current certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is preferred.
  • Experience at a governmental agency (city, county, state) in auditing is preferred.
  • Experience with TeamMate+ audit management is preferred.
