About the Role

The Vice President of Product Strategy and Development will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of The RealReal's technology products, aligning with the company's overall business strategy and goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, this role offers high visibility and the opportunity to drive major product successes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Execute Product Vision and Roadmap: Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  2. Lead High-Performing Product Teams: Develop and manage a team of world-class product managers, providing guidance and direction to deliver the product vision and strategy.
  3. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner closely with operations, marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to execute near-term priorities while remaining aligned on longer-term product roadmaps and future-state vision.
  4. Present and Communicate Product Ideas: Present new technology product ideas to the leadership team with clearly defined value proposition, market validation, and ROI assessment.
  5. Own and Manage Product Roadmaps: Own, manage, and communicate progress against dynamic product roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  6. Champion End-User Experience: Be the champion of end-users (external and internal), incorporating client and user feedback to advance the product and improve the user experience.
  7. Guide Requirements Gathering and Business Case Development: Guide the team to work closely with internal users, stakeholders, and UX and engineering partners to gather requirements and build business cases for potential investment opportunities.
  8. Identify and Resolve Issues: Lead efforts to proactively and effectively identify, address, and resolve issues impacting technology product roadmaps.
  9. Monitor Competitive Marketplace and Industry Trends: Track competitive marketplace and industry trends with the goal of developing a product roadmap that keeps The RealReal's technology products at the forefront of the retail luxury industry.
  10. Conduct Market Research: Conduct market research to understand trends that should be considered when updating the product roadmap or product strategy.
  11. Develop Vision Documents and Prototypes: Create vision documents for products and collaborate with UX partners to develop prototypes and wireframes to clearly communicate product requirements.
  12. Lead Product Team Growth and Development: Hire, manage, retain, and elevate the capabilities of the product team as the company scales.
  13. Develop Long-Term Product Roadmap: Develop a long-term product roadmap designed to enter new markets, drive sales of existing products, and strengthen The RealReal's leading market position.
