Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development, modification, and administration of clinical systems, including the Allscripts Touchworks suite of applications. The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead, project manager, and analyst, working closely with various teams to design, develop, and implement complex computer-based application software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer clinical systems, including the Allscripts Touchworks suite of applications
  • Design, develop, and implement complex computer-based application software
  • Work with various teams to identify project risks and provide resolution
  • Coordinate system installations, updates, and problem resolution
  • Act as a project manager, trainer, and analyst for assigned systems
  • Assist in the resolution of high-complexity help desk issues
  • Participate in change management processes at application and departmental levels
  • Responsible for project management of upgrades, installations, and other system-related activities
  • Monitor and document system performance, and recommend alternatives to existing system configurations
  • Subject to call-back at all times, and must be available to support the organization and staff as necessary
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Eight or more years of applied technical experience in a clinical environment, particularly in areas such as nursing, radiology, laboratory, or electronic medical record systems
  • Five or more years of experience in Information Technology, including project management, advanced support management, or other similar experience
  • Relevant system experience in EMR systems is preferred
  • Proficiency with computer systems, basic understanding of databases, knowledge of interfaces, networks, and hardware
  • Programming skills are preferred
  • Experience dealing with external vendors is required

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in stressful situations
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced understanding of core clinical application functionality
  • Broad understanding of clinical and/or business operations and how they relate to technical processes
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both inside and outside of IT
  • Demonstrated dedication to a positive attitude, strong customer service support
  • Demonstrated ability to convey technical knowledge in both written and verbal formats
  • Formal presentation skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment, with a high level of attention to detail and ability to remain composed under pressure. The successful candidate must be available to support the organization and staff as necessary, including evenings and weekends.
