Lead Civil Construction Inspector

The Dyer Partnership is seeking a skilled Lead Civil Construction Inspector to become a vital part of our team. This role will involve overseeing the construction of significant civil infrastructure projects. Daily onsite presence is essential for effective project management. This is a full-time role requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough observations and document all phases of construction for civil projects, including water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
- Collaborate effectively with field representatives and Project Managers.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying any discrepancies.
- Review payment applications and change orders, coordinating with contractors and engineers as necessary.
- Maintain organized project files onsite.
- Document plan changes on record drawings accurately.
- Provide site tours for stakeholders as required.
- Attend and administer onsite construction management meetings, providing detailed minutes.
- Coordinate and review project submittals.
- Assess and comment on construction schedules, change orders, and daily operations.
- Assist in the coordination of startup and testing of facilities.
- Monitor change order values and costs as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Document contractor activities through Daily Reports.
- Maintain positive and professional interactions with all project stakeholders.
- Capture project progress through photographs.
- Keep an accurate log of contract days utilized and remaining.
- Verify daily work quantities and submit weekly Quantity Reports to the Engineer.
- Utilize professional judgment to conduct observations with minimal disruption to contractor workflows.
- Maintain accurate records of personnel, equipment, and materials used.
- Exhibit excellent organizational and time management skills for timely documentation.
- Ensure materials delivered match approved submittals.
- Coordinate necessary testing for soils, asphalt, and concrete.
- Engage with local residents regarding construction impacts.
- Keep the Engineer informed of work progress and field issues.
Qualifications:
- At least five years of relevant experience.
- Industry-specific certifications.
- Ability to interpret construction schedules.
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment, concrete, building, and pump stations is preferred.
- Commitment to contributing positively to the company culture.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Quick learner with the ability to retain new information.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read and understand scaled construction plans and specifications.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and thorough in work.
- Flexibility to work hours dictated by project needs.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Experience with municipal civil and environmental engineering projects is preferred.
- Successful completion of random drug and alcohol testing.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred.
- Technical School or Associate Degree is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
